The purpose of the article is to investigate historical indicators, current trends and development of prospects of Ukrainian food market taking into account domestic demand and scale of foreign economic activity. Research methods. In the research process were used the following scientific methods: theoretical generalization (for comprehensive description of the domestic market of agricultural products); historical (for providing a statistical chronology of crops production and livestock products); analysis and synthesis (for considering sales percentage in the national market retail chains of food products); comparative evaluation (for classification of agricultural holdings by an area of land used); graphic and tabular (for visual representation of the results of scientific research). Research results. Changes in agricultural production in Ukraine during the independence period were considered, and the main characteristics of the domestic agro-food market in the current conditions were determined. The most significant sales indicators of food produced in Ukraine by retail trade enterprises were given, and a list of the largest agro-holdings operating in the domestic economy was given. There were evaluated prospects for the agro-food market development in Ukraine on basis of forecasts by international and domestic specialised institutions. Elements of scientific novelty. It has been determined that at current stage main subjects of Ukrainian food market works in conditions of faster necessity adaptation to relevant requirements of the world market and corresponding transfer of global tendencies on the domestic consumer segment. Practical significance. Provisions of the article are aimed at bringing information on the functioning system and key indicators of the domestic agro-food market with the release of up-to-date data for public authorities, local self-government and professional producers.
